I love our music team! We all have the same passion and desire and it's such a blessing to share music with these wonderful guys on a Sunday night.

These photos were taken at a friend's wedding last month - hence the suits ;-)

The Idea of North

  • Nov. 18th, 2006 at 11:54 AM
Music : Bono
Here's a plug for what has to be this country's best a capella group ever: The Idea of North!

Check them out! Get to one of their shows. Attend a workshop. Or at least buy a cd! I can assure you that you wont be dissapointed. We saw them at Blackstump last year, and at the beginning of this week Mum and I were privileged to watch them perform once again (and do a workshop too!). They are just: amazing.

Especially recommended is their newest cd: The Gospel Project. It's a great mix of traditional and contempory, and though as a whole it's a fairly serious album, I'm pleased to say that the band haven't completely suceeded in hiding their hilarious sense of wackiness :-)

Writing Promt no. 1

  • Nov. 14th, 2006 at 4:45 PM
Read : Wives and Daughters
I've been really inspired by some of [info]katiefoolery's creative writing pieces she's been posting on her blog lately, and after months of practically no writing whatsoever (apart from letters and journalling) I sat down today - and I wrote some! I found this site: www.creativewritingpromts.com, and one of the writing promts said to start a short piece of writing with the phrase that I used to begin my story.
I spent about twenty moniutes writing and then a few extras editing. Please tell me your thoughts - I'd love some feedback! By the way, I'm not sure myself what it's about but I find it rather exciting nonetheless :-)

---------------
LOVE, CRUEL and WILD.

“They had nothing to say to each other?”

“Nothing, ma’am. I’m sorry! I did all that I could do.”

All that I could do. And I had ruined myself, and the two of them because of it. Unintentional harm must hurt more than any deliberate grievance ever could. And I – the instigator of it all!

The young man who had just left the building was dark, and as he began to run his ragged hair and his jacket blew wild - far far away from all that he had just encountered. Far away from the screaming woman at the bottom of the stairwell; from the couple who could do no more than stare mutely at one another. So much more should have happened in that conference – but silence! All he was rewarded with was silence.

It had been over twelve months since they had met last – on the sand by the wild water that blustery September day. Good intentions had only ended in evil results... love had turned sour. And not even words were able to heal the hurt that had been wrought by that September day.

reason at MYC

Alex sent me the link last night to reason's newest recordings. They led all the worship at the Mid Year Conference in the Blue Mountains this year and recorded some of their own tracks plus a few other favourites live. Definitely worth a listen (or a few)!!

Do you think I'm silly for starting a new LJ?

View Answers

Yeah, of course! You're silly full-stop.
1 (6.7%)

Um, I'm thinking it's a bad idea, yeah.
0 (0.0%)

2 (13.3%)

Of course not! :-0
7 (46.7%)

No, it's a very pleasing thing you've done!
5 (33.3%)

Is Joe mean for mocking my love of Il Divo?

View Answers

Yes! Il Divo is a lovely group. Joe is silly!
5 (35.7%)

I don't know. I haven't heard their music so I can't speak.
9 (64.3%)

No. I'd have been mocking you before now if I knew you owned one of their rotten cds!
0 (0.0%)

Tell me something! (But only nice things.)

Are you jealous of me cause I'm seeing U2 next month?

View Answers

Heck yes!!!
3 (23.1%)

Oh my. I wouldn't mind going with you!
4 (30.8%)

Can I buy one of those spare tickets you have?
0 (0.0%)

Yuck. U2 are dumb.
6 (46.2%)

No. I like listening to their cds, but the thought of lining up all day for a hot, loud and squishing show that'll end late in the night doesn't excite me.
1 (7.7%)

Was this a silly poll?

View Answers

No. Well yes. But I like silly polls.
10 (66.7%)

Not really. You can't be expected to do any better when you have Lizzy and Il Divo distracting you.
2 (13.3%)

Yes, and so are you!
0 (0.0%)

No, I thought it was very intelligent and deep actually.
0 (0.0%)

No, not at all! And you're not either.
3 (20.0%)

And one more. Should I have spelt my user name bizzy_liz?

View Answers

Yeah, it would have made it match your dizzy-liz name nicely.
6 (40.0%)

No, who spells like that these days?
1 (6.7%)

Ew.
3 (20.0%)

Yeah, looks really funky spelt that way!
1 (6.7%)

No, normal spelling is much more dignified looking.
4 (26.7%)
